How The PITS were born in 1983

After a series of summer rehearsals in Evansville, IN in 1983 – The PITS (who were unnamed at the time) performed their 1st show at a lake beach party in Warrick County, IN on September 10, 1983. The lake was actually a reclaimed coal mine “stripper pit”, complete with a sandy beach and a cabin. Back in the 70s & 80s, young folks would refer to these lakes as “The Pits” – stating “let’s go swimming in the pits”.

The foursome sang and played and after only a few rehearsals, were still a bit rough around the edges. One fan claimed, “you know, these guys are The Pits, but they are having so much fun and it is contagious!!!”

With that statement coupled with the venue they were playing – The name stuck and after 41 years, they are a hell of a lot better and pack every dance floor where they perform!!!

This Nashville, TN – Evansville, IN based quartet is dubbed “The Ultimate Party / Dance Fab 4”. Covering 8 decades of hits, and hits that are all about dancing & singing along, (plus an original dance pop classic or 2), their mission is quite simple – TO GET YOU OFF YOUR SEAT ON THE DANCE FLOOR. For over 40 years, they have been doing just that, performing shows with 70s headliners such as Grand Funk Railroad, Foghat, The Guess Who, The Grass Roots, Three Dog Night, Head East, as well as other Nashville Acts. Their energy, chemistry, and soul is unparalleled, as audiences realize when you make your evening “The PITS”, they will put on their glad rags and move rhythmically and press together and bust out and have an evening of celebration!!
