The Band
The PITS – born in the summer of ’83
And so it began. An annual summer party at the lakes made from reclaimed coal mining Stripper Pits in Southern Indiana. Great party, but no band ever made it that deep into the woods. Determined to put together a band that would make it there, for one show only, the boys began to practice in a 100 degree+ pole barn. ’60’s, ’70’s and a few ’80’s songs — all party and dance songs — were quickly put together. When the band couldn’t think of a good enough name, it was bantered around that they should either call themselves the Strippers or the Pits — and the way they sounded on that day, they decided it should be THE PITS. The rest, as they say, is history — 41 years of hi-energy history with a definite party and dance groove!
